Friends
don’t let friends Love while under the influence…
By Fred Mills
In her latest bid to dominate the news
cycle — just this past weekend there was that nasty blogging incident involving
Ryan Adams and accusations of theft and fraud — Courtney Love has managed to
engineer events surrounding the 2006 sale of her portion of the Nirvana publishing
catalog into a frontpage-worthy lawsuit.
L.A.’s London
& Co. is alleging that The Widow Cobain owes them close to a million bucks
as part of an oral contract she had with them to give them five per cent of her
income for their role in managing Kurt Cobain’s intellectual property. Since
that contract was reportedly struck, Love took in about $19.5 million resulting
from the Nirvana publishing catalog deal.
According to media accounts neither the London
& Co. attorney who filed the suit in L.A.
nor Love’s publicist or attorney returned messages seeking comment.
But you can bet Courtney will be blogging on her MySpace page. You go girl!
