Yo Majesty
(Domino)
So, you say you're two Christian black lesbian rappers out of Tampa, Florida, and you want to make a record?
Do it.
Make it equal parts B-more club music, Dirty Southern rap and grungy electro - and then get as ribald and grossed-out as Lil Wayne, but with the influences MCs Shan and Lyte?
Sure thing, LaShunda Flowers (Shunda K) and Jewel Baynham (Jwl B).
But make it right and go beyond the cliché of club hop and overt sexuality. Any musty old man can do the sex-rap of "F*cked Up." Lots of people can screw up their orgasm. Then again, bringing in England's Hard Feelings UK production team to add that rub-a-dub electro plumpness to the George Clinton-like "Blame It On The Change" emboldens even your weakest please. Mostly, I'm a sucker for the way the two of your teetering voices act in tandem. Like you're drunk and crunked up. It's not perfect, this Future of yours, Yo Majesty. But I like it even when you're weak. In fact, a little more vulnerability would help.
I would say stop rolling like two men, but that would insulting.
So I'll just say: stop rolling like two clumsy women (sometimes) and sharpen the skills.
Still, this is promising.
Standout Tracks: "Blame It On The Change", "Take It Away" A.D. AMOROSI
