Jason Isbell Unplugged: Interview + Live at Grey Eagle, Asheville NC
On July 23, Jason Isbell appeared as Asheville's storied Grey Eagle venue and the BLURT editorial staff, along with local production company Bclip, was on hand for a special pre-show taping session. In addition to performing unplugged versions of "In A Razor Town" and "The Magician" (both from his 2007 album Sirens of the Ditch; you can view the full videos for each of them elsewhere on the BLURT site) the uber-charming singer-songwriter took a few minutes to talk about his break from Drive-By Truckers, the dwindling magazine industry, what his favorite time of the day to write is and how his new band, the 400 Unit, got that quirky name.
Video produced by Allie Goolrick; cameras/editing by Bclip Productions.
Special thanks to the Isbell crew, New West Records and the good folks at the Grey Eagle.
